S1E7 - A Drummers Life ft. Stephen Perkins
A Drummers Life
If you grew up in the late 80's and the 90's then you no doubt heard the music of Jane's Addiction! We talk with Stephen Perkins, the drummer of Janes Addiction, Porno for Pyros, The Halloween Jack and a few other bands. We talk with Stephen about growing up and learning about drums. We talk about the growth of Janes Addiction and how that spread out into other projects over the years and how these expansions in projects impacted his music, and his drum playing. We talk about his musical influences like David Bowie, The New York Dolls, and punk rock in general. In fact. one of the new releases for The Halloween Jack is a unique rocked up cover of the New York Dolls song called "Trash". Stephen and the rest of the band wanted to put this song out as a tribute/ token of love to the glam/punk band’s Sylvain Sylvain who died after losing his battle with cancer. Stephen also tells us about his newest project "Perkins Palace" which is a new record label for up and coming talent that needs an opportunity much like Jane's Addiction did when they got signed. So much to cover, and so much to enjoy!
